If you haven’t tried kiwi jam yet, you are in for a real treat!
Kiwis are such delicious fruits and many people have never even considered making jam from them! They make the perfect jam and hold up well during the canning process!
I love making kiwi jam when the kiwis come into season. You can then enjoy the taste of kiwi all year long on scones, breads and more!
If you have never made jam before, I will explain how in this post so that you can easily learn how to do it!
The best part is that you can make kiwi jam using just 3 ingredients! You don’t need any fancy equipment and you can enjoy it for many months to come when kiwis are well out of season!
I have made a variety of jams and jellies since I was little learning from my parents including strawberry and cherry!
Kiwi jam will become your new family favorite!
Preparing The Kiwis For Kiwi Jam
In order to prepare the kiwis for the jam, you need to know how you want the jam to turn out.
If you want a chunkier jam, you will cut the kiwis into larger cubes. If you want a smoother jam, you will cut the kiwis into smaller pieces.
How big or small you cut the fruit depends on how chunky or smooth the kiwi jam will turn out.
In order to cut the kiwi, the best method I have found is to slice it in half down the middle width-wise.
Then, using a spoon, scoop out the fruit. Go along the edges with the spoon and push down under the middle and the entire half of the kiwi should easily come out.
This is how I eat kiwis in general and is the perfect way to scoop them out.
Then, once you scoop out the half, just dice the fruit to the size that you want!
How To Make The Kiwi Jam
Once you dice the fruit to the size that you want, it is time to make the kiwi jam!
In a large pot, heat your kiwi, 2 cups of sugar, and lemon juice (you can also add lime if you prefer) and slowly bring the mixture to a boil.
Allow the mixture of kiwi, sugar, and juice to cook for 20 minutes.
While the mixture is cooking, you will want to sterilize small jars to use as containers for the jam.
That is it!
To store the kiwi jam, spoon hot jam into the hot sterilized jars and leave about 1/2 inch of space between the jam and the lid.
Cool the jam to room temperature and place lids on the jar using clean hands.
Now you can freeze your kiwi jam for up to one year to enjoy it during any season!

Do the jars need to be boiled again once filled? If so, how long for which size??
